Guess what I just spotted on JYJ3?

First official trailer for Time Slip Dr. Jin!

It actually looks like it's going to be plenty entertaining. Someone on DB commented that it seems to take itself too seriously and might go overboard into cheesy territory, but hey, I like it! I make no claim to have great taste in viewing material, but at least this won't lack in the thrills department.

Plus, Jaejoong is GORGEOUS.

Solmare released the version 1.0.3 update for Ninja Love a few days ago with new in-app purchases for 5 "episodes" of side stories/sequel chapters! My otome-playing self cries in joy and my wallet weeps in despair.

The prices are pretty steep at USD$4 for each episode, coming to a total of USD$20 for all of them. On the bright side, though, each episode will give you the stories for all 7 characters. :D If anyone's still hesitating on whether to purchase the 2 extra character packs with Goemon/Musashi/Munenori/Rennoshin, this is a good chance to try them out.

More details and summaries )

I've only played Saizo's route in "On the Road to Happiness" so far, but it's a lot spicier more fun than I had expected! *rubs hands in glee* Once I get through these, I'll post full descriptions and caps.

"Park Ha! Park Ha! PARK HAAA!! Where did you think you were going without my permission?"

OMG, cutest thing ever. It's about time Lee Gak started getting over Hwa Yong/Se Na! And LOL DNA test. How's he going to get out of this one?

I hadn't paid much attention to the KBS Drama Specials lately because most of them had looked deadly dull, but the latest 4-episode series, True Steel 강철본색, looks AWESOME. It's due to air tonight and I'm hoping against hope that we'll eventually see it English subbed somewhere.

Oh! Man! Seok!

I don't have any particular feelings about Hong Soo Ah, but it seems she's playing a kickass, trained-in-martial-arts Joseon princess who runs away from home, gets herself into a presumably nefarious plot, and proceeds to work with Oh Man Seok to kick their butts into the next century. SO MY KIND OF THING.

Check out the awesome trailer below:

One word: CRACK.

If anyone was disappointed at the lack of the funny in the first episode yesterday, episode 2 made up for it in SPADES. It is So. Freaking. Hilarious. Count me officially hooked and in love with this drama. If it keeps going in this vein, Rooftop Prince is going to be hard to beat as my crack drama of the year. Heck, even if they didn't bother with the plot anymore and just kept feeding us scenes of that adorable rooftop family, I'd be a happy camper anyway.

Just off the top of my head, we have the Joseon Power Rangers:
- Drinking from the toilet bowl because they were thirsty and thought it was a source of water. LOLLL.
- Trying to stop cars so that they could cross the road
- Taking their shoes off when they got onto the bus, because they thought that was "indoors"
- Destroying the TV when a sageuk comes on and the first thing they see is an archer shooting an arrow towards them, HAHA.
- Bowing to the 10,000 won bill with the image of King Sejong, going, "YOUR MAJESTY!"

Omg, this stuff is just glorious.

Plus I love Park Ha, who is terrifically sarcastic and no-nonsense. She's already got Lee Gak whipped! I love how she refers to them as "Red/Green/Yellow/Blue ahjusshi." And Lee Gak's hilariously timid now that he's a total fish out of water - he was so self-assured in the Joseon period that I love seeing him cower. The only way they can improve this is if they sped up the process of Lee Gak finding out the Crown Princess/Se Na's true colours, because calling her a bitch just about sums her up. Fall for Park Ha quickly and realize that she's Bu Yong in the past, Crown Prince!

Episode 1 of Rooftop Prince = BOY, was that fun!

I really appreciate how quickly they set up everything, both in the modern and historical period. We whizzed through their childhood parts in the past and present, established the relationships and connections between all the main characters, and end with Lee Gak and Co. transported to Park Ha's house in the present. Talk about setting a fast pace, LOL. But that's really where I want to be, anyway - it's when Lee Gak has to adjust to the modern day and find out what happened through their modern incarnations that it really gets interesting. My only regret is that we only got a brief flash of how Lee Gak recruited his team of loyal subjects to form the Joseon Power Rangers:

Oh well, maybe we'll get more bromance later. :D

More importantly, I adore both Han Ji Min as Park Ha/Bu Yong and Yoochun as Lee Gak/Tae Yong already; they've only had one or two scenes together in the historical period and ooh, the chemistry! I cannot wait until both Lee Gak and his modern incarnation (whom I'm fairly sure isn't dead, although he most likely would have amnesia) fall for Park Ha, if only to watch that scheming, hateful step-sister kick herself in frustration.

More on crazy step-sister and Tae Yong's batshit cousin (spoilers) )

It's going to be damn fun to watch both their carefully laid plans unravel with the appearance of Lee Gak. :P Ohhh, it will be bitter.

I also like the continuing theme of the butterfly (amongst a few other things) that link the historical times and the modern period. How many bets that was the answer to the riddle that Lee Gak set Bu Yong when they walked together at the pond?

I hadn't thought very much about The Marriage Plot - an upcoming cable drama starring Kang Hye Jung, Lee Kyu Han and Lee Young Eun - other than having a passing impression that it sounds like it'd be quirky and cute. It's apparently about a mother with four daughters who embarks on a mission to marry them all off by having them cohabitate with their prospective grooms, LOL. Clearly, she is very desperate.

Either way, I just watched the first trailer and my first reaction was: LOL WHAT THE SHIT? I don't know what to think anymore.

All I gather is that Kang Hye Jung's character is really, really not happy about the idea of getting married.

So I just caught the first episode of Fashion King (it was fully subbed on Viki after a few hours; I love YAI fangirls). I honestly wasn't terribly interested in this and wouldn't even have tried it if it wasn't for Yoo Ah In - I'm not the least bit interested in a dramatic drama about fashion, and I have no particular feelings about the rest of the cast.

However! The first episode was neither as ridiculously makjang and weepy as I had feared it might be, nor was it at all boring. It's a solid show with complex characters and it does a great job with emphasizing the massive divide between the glossy, polished feel of high fashion/fashion industry A-listers vs. the guys on the bottom rung of the ladder peddling their wares at Dongdaemun. It's too early to say whether it'll manage to keep this up, but I've heard a lot of positive crtique about it already and the episode garnered decent ratings.

Despite this, I'm still not entirely sold on the fashion theme and the episode didn't make me an instant convert. What I am sold on, however, is Yoo Ah In's performance. He is rocking it. I've always thought he was fairly good, but he's gone several miles further in Fashion King to the point where he's clearly elevating the level of the entire drama. Yoo Ah In gives me the same feel as a younger So Ji Sub; he oozes charisma and controlled energy in every scene, and he's just so good at the gritty scenes that require raw emotion. When he appears on-screen, my interest level shoots up 50%, and by the end of the first episode I am invested enough in his character to want to see him succeed (and shove it in the face of the arrogant SOB that is the second male lead).

A few caps + thoughts )

The conclusion is: The drama is not bad so far, but my main reason for watching is still Yoo Ah In's knock-out performance as Young Gul and for any glimpses of the young actors for Maru/Woori from CYHMH (particularly Kim Sae Ron). For these reasons alone, I'm all set to tune into the second episode tomorrow.
